Dr. Weicong Cheng, Postdoctoral Fellow at HKUST and a registered member of CORE, has been honored with the Best Oral Presentation Award for early career scientists at The 21st Pacific-Asian Marginal Seas Meeting. The presentation titled "Characteristics and dynamics of the counter-wind currents over the China Shelf Seas" showcased Dr. Cheng's research findings.
The Pacific-Asian Marginal Seas (PAMS) meeting series originated in 1981 as JECSS (Japan and East China Seas Study), with a primary focus on regional physical oceanography. The 21st PAMS meeting, held in Zhuhai, China, from May 13 to 15, 2024, centered around the theme of "climate variability, extreme events, and their impacts." The event was hosted by the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Zhuhai).
